Cosmetic Dentistry

Within the scope of cosmetic dentistry, we offer a variety of treatment options ranging from minimally invasive treatment to dental laminate and full crowns. For instance, dental fillings are the most common treatment applied to decayed teeth. In the past, these fillings were made of gold, and materials that created a metal-black appearance on the teeth, like dental amalgam. Today, within the scope of cosmetic dentistry, dental fillings are made of porcelain or composite resin that matches the color and look of the natural teeth, thus preserving the natural appearance of your smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry Applications

Smile Design

Smile Design plans the most beautiful smile by combining function and a cosmetic and natural appearance while considering your expectations. It is usually a combination of several procedures, such as teeth whitening, porcelain laminate veneers, implants, or gum contouring. Smile Design takes into account the shape of the face, skin color, gender, age, lips, the color and alignment of teeth, and the shape of gums.

Gum Contouring

Some individuals feel they show too much gum when they smile, or that their teeth look too short. This is more commonly known as a “gummy smile”, and can be treated with a simple gum contouring operation. This procedure achieves permanent results very quickly after healing.

Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

Tooth color is very important for the cosmetic appearance of teeth. In some cases, professional cleaning procedures, such as scaling and polishing that aim to eliminate stains and tartar, are insufficient to effectively change the color of the tooth. If that is the case, teeth cleaning can improve teeth color. According to research, teeth whitening is extremely effective and safe if performed under the supervision of a dentist and does not damage teeth or gums in any way. Unlike before, current smile design procedures aim to provide a cosmetic appearance with the smallest possible intervention. It is crucial that the resulting smile is not only pretty but also functional.

Teeth whitening is the most popular and common cosmetic dental procedure around the world. It is well-proven to be safe without long-term side effects or complications. It is easy and practical to apply with quick, satisfactory results.

Composite Bonding

The composite filling material mimics the enamel and dentin surfaces and is applied to the grooves on the teeth or the prepared surfaces with bonding agents, shaped according to the adjacent teeth, and hardened with a dental curing light. The result is a healthy and bright smile that blends in with the teeth and surrounding tissues to achieve a natural appearance.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays, made of composite or porcelain, are also known as indirect restorations and fit the specific size and shape of a cavity or groove. They are not prepared in-office by the physician but in laboratories by technicians using special systems.

Porcelain Laminate Veneers

Porcelain laminate veneers are cosmetic restorations that do not completely cover the teeth but only attach to the frontal surface. They can be applied to address color differences between teeth, small deformities, to correct the gap between front teeth or small crookedness without orthodontic treatment, to correct the appearance of visible fillings or fractures in front teeth, or to improve the appearance of front teeth for any other reason. This restoration method is ideal to change the color, shape, and size of a tooth.

Non-Metal Dental Crowns

Porcelain crowns, more commonly known as ‘veneers’ used to consist of a metal base over which a porcelain crown was placed. This was the only way to properly resist chewing forces on the teeth. However, recent advances and the current dental technology and adhesive materials allow the reinforced porcelain crowns to be completely non-metal (completely from porcelain).
